March 2019 Community Update

March has been a very busy month at Covered Bridge Estates!  We enjoyed our second annual Spring Concert in the Park, held our Annual Member Meeting, and continue to offer our Food Truck Thursday event at the Clubhouse.  Here are some details:

Spring Concert in the Park

The Concert in the Park was a smashing success.  Once again the band Rusty Trumpet performed in front of the large tent.  This year, in addition to face painting, free cotton candy, free popcorn, a visit from the local fire department so the kids could “touch a truck”, and Justin Matthews showing his rescue birds and reptiles, there were games and activities for the kids.  Four food trucks were there to sell their wares. A good time was had by all.

The board wishes to thank the various sponsors who placed ads on the back of the concert flyer and helped to defray a significant portion of the total cost. We sincerely appreciate your support of our community! Many thanks also to all of our community volunteers who worked tirelessly and selflessly to make this an exceptional day for our community!

Annual Meeting at Blackburn Elementary School

The Annual Owners Meeting was held on March 20 with several owners in attendance.  Unfortunately, we were not able to establish a quorum to make the meeting official but we enjoyed the presentation by Lenora Spence, Consumer Advocate for the Division of Consumer Services of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.  Lenora explained the role and scope of the department and gave some statistics of the number of companies/industries that are regulated.

President Charlie Lane announced that Laura Howell will be leaving Covered Bridge Estates as Property Manager at the conclusion of her contract in May and thanked her for her years of service. Charlie also welcomed Nathan Chambers as the new Board member, replacing outgoing member Michael Magan. Updated roles of the board members are: Charles Lane-President, Don Samuelson-VP, Nathan Chambers-Secretary, Don Hedman-Treasurer, and Tim Polk-Director.

Semi-annual Community Yard Sale

On March 3 we held our semi-annual community yard sale with many of our residents participating. Thank you to all resident volunteers for putting up (and taking down) the signs pointing shoppers throughout the neighborhood. Start planning now for the next yard sale in November.
